laurificus: (Dean hearts Sam)

I am procrastinating on writing (as I do), so along with everyone else: the Supernatural meme!

1. Deangirl or Samgirl?

Both! It is true! [personal profile] mollyamory is probably laughing right now. As, most likely, is [personal profile] musesfool, though for different reason.

I adore Sam now, possibly a bit too much. I love his stubbornness and his relentless, inexplicable hope for better things. But I love Dean. I love that he's good and doesn't really know or believe it, and--sort of the opposite to Sam--I love that he doesn't really hope for better and keeps trying anyway. And I love that the foundation for both of them is how much they love each other.

In conclusion, I love them both. I am only crazy defensive about Sam because so many other people are all about Dean.

2. Casgirl, yes or no?

Ahahahahaha. I don't really have to answer that, do i?

Obviously not. I went through a brief spell of thinking I didn't hate him quite so much, but that was mostly because he wasn't around a lot. I did like his terrible decision-making in S6, and I didn't actively hate him in 717. But as always, my feelings on him remain that I'd be happier with him dead.

Actually, what I liked about 717 was that he interacted with Sam. If that continued, I might warm to him for real. …Maybe.

3. Favorite season?

Um. 2, I think, even though the trash talking basketball game never did make it to screen, and I will forever be bitter about it. 3 was too truncated, or it might have beaten it. I do think 4 is the best, though, in terms of following the story right through to the end, no matter how painful it got.

4. Favorite episode(s) from your favorite season?

Let's go with What Is and What Should Never Be. Oh, Dean. But really, it could just as easily be Born Under a Bad Sign, Or In My Time of Dying, or All Hell Breaks Loose Part 1.

5. Season you're most likely to re-watch?

1 or 2, if it had to be a whole rewatch. But I'm more likely to go for individual episodes now than whole seasons. Actually, I think it would be cool to watch 4 from start to finish and see how it all fits together in light of the ending. One day, I will perhaps bring myself to do it.

6. Season you hate the most?

Season 4, just because it really was horrible to watch. But I still think it's a powerful, impressive season of story-telling, and as a whole, it's the one that says the most about how much and how deeply Sam and Dean love each other. They nearly ended the world because they didn't trust each other. If they'd stayed together, they wouldn't have been each other's greatest weakness at all. I will never not love that.

7. Favorite episode of the current season?

I think Repo Man has been the best (with honorary mentions to Slash Fiction and The Born Again Identity), but Hello, Cruel World might be my favourite. Stone one. ♥

No, it does not escape my notice that they are both written by my sometimes nemesis. When Edlund's good, he's very good.

8. Least favorite episode from the current season?

Obviously, Time for a Wedding. The last 5 minutes were sweet. The rest was absurdly and offensively terrible.

9. Favorite angel (besides Cas)?

Uriel. Uriel Uriel Uriel. Half my Cas bitterness comes from how awesome Uriel was, and how predictably his story ended. I am also very fond of Balthazar, though.

10. Least favourite angel?

Cas, obviously. At least with the other angels, I wasn't supposed to think they were all heroic and whatnot.

11. Favorite demon?

Azazel. Much as I love Crowley, I don't think of him as a demon in quite the same way. He's too much like a character now, if that makes sense.

12. Least favorite demon?

Lilith, I guess. She was the least developed big bad, I think.

13. Favorite one-episode character?

Kathleen from The Benders. I love that she was smart and competent and not charmed enough by Dean to let him tag along, and I love that she shot the guy who killed her brother, and that she wasn't sorry about it.

14. Sam's hair looked best in which season?

6. Soullessness was a good look on him.

15. If the show would have ended the way Kripke wanted it to, with Sam and Dean battling each other and jumping into the hole together (and God might show mercy on them, idk), would you have preferred that?

Dear god, no. Also no. Furthermore, no. And not just because there would've been no more. I love that Sam couldn't have beaten Lucifer without Dean. It goes back to that thing from S4--when they're together and trust each other, that's where they get their strength. It's a much more fitting way to save the world.

I also love it as the end of Sam's redemption arc. That's a far less powerful one if Dean has to live through hell again.

16. Best cast character throughout the whole show?

I'm going to follow everyone else and say JDM. He turned what could have been a very 2D character into someone I didn't necessarily like but still cared about. And I cared about the boys caring about him, and believed that they would care about him, in spite of how terrible he initially seemed.

17. Do you think Chuck is God?

I certainly think we're supposed to think it. Personally, I choose not to. I was never a fan of the introduction of explicit religious themes; the absent, uncaring god saved it for me. I also hate every single meta episode they did in seasons 4 and 5, so I try to think about chuck as little as possible.

18. Who's a hotter psychic, Patrica Arquette, Jennifer Love Hewitt or Sam?

Sam. No contest, really.

19. Freedom or Peace?

…both? I want them to find a way to reconcile what they do, and to do what they do in a way that isn't so devastating. Travel around the country and have a base to come back to. That's the ideal for me.

20. Dimples, freckles, eye-crinkles, bowlegs, bangs, woobie frowns or jaw clinches?

Why would I choose? All of the above.

21. Favorite kind of monster?

The human ones, or the ones who maybe aren't humans, but who have humanity. I'm glad they don't show up all that often, because they're the worst for Sam and Dean to have to kill, but when they do show up, I find them to be the most scary/interesting.

22. Weapon of choice?

I am fond of the boys being all hot and competent and badass when they shoot at things, so a gun of any sort will do.

23. Favorite death?

Hmm. AHBL, because of the clinging and the crying, and it was also the first, so it had impact in a way nothing else can quite achieve again. But Swan Song is the one that makes me sadder to think about, so…I don't know.

24. Favorite minor character's death?

Ellen and Jo. *sniffle*

25. Pre-apocalyptic, apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic?

Well, post, but only because the apocalyptic part didn't happen. If the apocalyptic part had happened, I would be firmly and eternally opposed, because as a genre it freaks me out. But I like that it was averted, and now we're seeing them getting past it and rebuilding. One of the things that's been so lovely about seasons 6 and 7 is seeing them recapture that early vibe, especially when I honestly didn't think we'd ever get that again. And it's better this time, because they're more like equals now, and Sam really does take care of Dean as much as Dean takes care of him.
26. Scariest episode?

Repo Man. I don't entirely know why. Maybe just the combination of Sam and Dean thinking they're fighting one thing on a monster level while they're fighting another, and Dean not realising that Sam's got a whole other fight going on too.

27. Best song that mattered for a scene? (you can't choose Carry on Wayward Son)

Hee! Don't Fear the Reaper. I think that's when I fell in love with the show, because it was so cheesy and so awesome.

28. Best and worst young versions of characters?

Has anyone answered anything other than colin Ford for best? I'm certainly not going to. Young John in In the Beginning for worst. It was cool to see a happier, sweeter version of him, but I still see no way of getting from him to later John.

29. Characters I ship like crazy?

Sam and Dean, forever and always. I liked Bobby/Ellen, and Bobby/Rufus. Sam/Cas I find mildly entertaining in a haven't ever actually read any sort of way. And weirdly, both in Caged Heat and The Born Again Identity, the idea of Meg/Cas has struck me as interesting. But the boys. The boys are for each other.

30. Favorite female character?

ellen. I like Jody a lot, but she hasn't yet taken Ellen's place.

31. Best and worst season intro and finale?

Swan Song probably gets best finale, though I hated it at the time. That's how I know it worked for me, really. I don't know that I think they've ever had a bad one. AHBL2, I guess, just because it was less dramatic than the others, but I still really enjoyed it.

Best intro is In My Time of Dying. Worst goes to Lazarus Rising. I don't even know if it was a bad episode. It just had many things I didn't like, and it set the tone for the rest of the season of pain and misery. Sam lying to Dean! Angels! Ugh ugh ugh.
