I believe my love of this show is perhaps not the best kept secret. There are many other shows I love, but not fannishly the way I do SPN. But if the rumours about S8 are true--the PTB mandated reduction of the bromance, a long separation, and lots of Dean and Cas (that last one is my fevered imagination, as much as anything), I'm really not sure I can watch.

I do say this a lot, and it's never as bad as it sounds, but right now, this does sound pretty bad. Please for it not to be so. Carver was always my favourite writer! Surely he gets the Sam and Dean, right? ...Right?

To be fair, it was an incredibly vague rumour. I've certainly never seen it substantiated, and Carver has always written really good Sam&Dean. If you wanted a change in direction, I'm not sure he'd be the choice for show runner. (Also, Jensen said he trusted him, and Jensen seems to be a firm believer in the brotherly bond.)

Added to which, the time for scaling it back was a couple seasons in. Doing it seven years in would be pretty weird.
