Heading out to case the promise land

So. I watched this show the other night. I watched it with a certain amount of fear and trepidation, because, you know, I have seen this show before. But lo, it was awesome.

I am actually just going to cut and paste from comments I left today, because my squeefulness can't be expected to temper my natural laziness.

I have so much love in my heart. So much! The plot was kind of nonsensical, and, well, even more creepy, but... HUGGING! Real hugging! With clinging and love and adorableness! And then the banter and the teasing, and the actual talking about stuff like they used to. Seriously, details aside, it could've been an S2 ep. I wondered, for a while, if we'd ever get that back again, but that was it, right there.

And I've been saying this a lot today, but Jensen and Jared really have done an awesome job. The differences between both Sam and Dean in LaV compared to when Sam wasn't right are so obvious. I mean, hard to put into words, but obvious all the same. Dean is just so much more Dean now that Sam is back. It's like...even his one-liners have heart now, or something. He's so happy, and pleased--I melted every time he noticed Sam being Sam. And Sam is just made of awesome. I thought I loved soulless Sam, and I sort of did, but he has nothing on our actual Sammy.

Other stuff: I remain convinced that Sam/Cas is the angel/Winchester pairing of choice. I really liked how genuinely happy Cas was to see him, and the awkwardness of the non-hug. I might even have forgiven him for not showing up when Sam got back and wanted answers, because he came for real!Sam. Also, Dean grumpily calling him a child was very amusing.

I also love that we're getting to see again how good Sam is, in a way that got obscured a bit with all the angst and woe of the last two seasons. I already think we were seeing that without his soul, because even with no conscience or moral compass, he was still trying to hunt and get rid of the bad shit. But with a soul, he is so determined to do the right thing. I'm so pleased that Bobby was totally, totally wrong about how Sam would react when he found out they were lying to him. He wasn't mad. His first priority was apologising to Dean, and then figuring out how he could fix what he broke. I mean, I don't think he broke anything (Bobby is getting, like, two weeks to stop being traumatised and stupid over robo!Sam trying to kill him, and if he persists after that, he'll go on my list), but I love that Sam thinks he did. And I love that his argument was that Dean would do the same. BECAUSE SAM ADORES HIS BIG BROTHER!

In conclusion:
"It's comforting. I died for a year, then came back. And you're still not funny."
"Shut up! I'm hilarious."
