The cases are leaving me pretty meh, lately, but they haven't hit a wrong note for me when it comes to Sam and Dean, and... yeah, I'm just that easy. I love the subtle way they're ratcheting up Sam's tension and intensity. Big points for that, at least from me. :) And Dean has been very endearing the last two episodes. I love his little face a lot right now.
Yeah, I'd like a few scarier cases, but I have enjoyed some of them this season, and I'm with you. If the Sam and Dean stuff is good, I don't care about the rest. And the Sam and Dean has been so much better than I could've hoped for since 710.
I thought it would be unbearably angsty, but they still have each other, and they're really highlighting how much that means. Especially with Sam, who was pretty much yelling at Dean in Friday's ep that he wouldn't be okay if Dean wasn't. And they're just as fond and loving of each other as they always were. I definitely feel like they're still enjoying having each other around, even now.
And you're right about Dean. He's been adorable since it came back, and more Dean-like, somehow.

I keep thinking about this, and about how Dean was trying hard not to care about anything at the beginning of the season, and then Dean's face when he realized Sam was in trouble in "Adventures in Babysitting," and how he told Frank he wasn't going to leave Sam alone. I think he knows it's just a matter of time before Sam falls apart, and that's what he's waiting for. "Me and my Beautiful Mind brother." I feel like he's waiting for the time when that will be an okay option. He's tried to make it without Sam, and Sam's tried to do the reverse, and they both know it doesn't work any more.

Argh, Winchesters.
